Percussion

I've had the reference photo this is based on for a long time. This woman was playing as part of a group during our local Art Fair.

Morning Ritual...

I started painting this earlier in the week when it looked like winter outside...finished it up quickly this morning so I can get away from this cold scene and go outside in the warm sunshine!

DSFDF

I tried an oil painting!! I gave myself two hours to do this painting - using Karin Jurick's reference photo from her Different Strokes From Different Folks blog. I "painted along with" Susan Carlin from an earlier broadcast she did on UStream...it was really fun to paint while watching and listening to her painting. I've been doing watercolors for so long now that it was kind of weird to try oils but I found I really enjoyed it.

Plein aire

This is only my second attempt ever at plein aire painting. It was such a beautiful day out that I just had to be outside...
This lovely little lake is just 5 minutes from where I live.

A Quickie

I'm committed to drawing/painting every day until I go back to work but didn't have a lot of time today so I did this quick little pen and ink with a touch of watercolor..."Afternoon Break".

Wildwood Farm

I got to paint in my sister in laws beautiful studio yesterday. It was great fun as always - she is a constant inspiration to me! I was pleased with the result of our painting day - this is an 8"X10" watercolor painting.

The chair that wouldn't leave

This is a chair that we inherited with the apartment we live in over my husband's shop. It is so big that it won't fit through any of the doors. I don't know how they got it up here but it's here to stay!

Sweet Days of Summer

This was a really fun excersize. I used a very small old black and white photo I found in an antique store and with graphite and watercolors painted my attempt to bring back this peaceful, wonderful moment in time back to life. I really enjoyed painting this!

Girl's Night

We were blessed to share 13 years of our lives with a sweet basset hound whose full name was Sad Eyed Sadie from St Louis...we adopted her in St Louis when we were semi truck owner-operators.

Rainey and me...

Self portraits are the scariest thing there is to paint but I got brave this morning and it wasn't so bad since Rainey is in there with me!

DSFDF still life challenge

This is a graphite and watercolor still life done for Karin Jurick's Different Strokes for Different Folks blog. She posts a photograph and invites artists to submit their interpretation.

Guitar Man

Here's one of my dad that I've been working on today. The thing about my dad is that he can play literally every song he knows on only 3 chords on the guitar...and it works! I love him for that...
I'm not sure I'm done with this little watercolor study yet but here it is...

Working with a black and white photo

This painting was based on a beautiful black and white photograph of my mom as a little girl. I called the painting "Determination" because she has such a determined expression and that was what I was trying to capture in the painting.
