This sushi kitty is my submission for Karin Jurick's Different Strokes From Different Folks blog. She provided a photo of the sushi and invited artists to paint their interpretations.

"Mandy"

This sweet old girl is my friend's white lab Mandy. I loved the colors and pattern in the rug she was laying on - I'm happy anytime I can use a lot of red paint:)

Dock Garden

I just loved the warm red color of these geranium pots contrasted with the blue/green water. It was so inviting looking to me.

The calming sound of the sea...

Waves lapping on to the shore ...Ahhhhh.....

Such a sweet face...

I took the reference photo for this painting last year at the Puyallup Fair. Her sweet face just captivated me!

Thinking it over...

My artistic goal for 2009 is to paint better people portraits - this is another piece in that effort...
